Answer: I believe it will fit. Check the online catalog to be certain. You will also need the small retainer cap at the handle end of the cable. It is available locally. -

Is the end of this cable oval or oblong?
Answer: Depends.... originally it was oblong, but has since been changed to oval. In speaking with a Deere service person this year they stated that the lever your hand goes on changed their attachment process. So you could get an updated lever, or get crafty with some platinum wire ties and make it work pretty easily. -

Replacement cable has a round end. The original cable had an oblong end. How can I attach to the original bar?

The John Deere Original Equipment Push Pull Cable #GX21634 is a replacement cable for the drive unit of a John Deere lawn mower. The cable has a spring added to one end and is attached differently to the transmission lever compared to the original part. It fits John Deere model jx75 perfectly, however, for mowers with the original "square" style connection to the lever, a new lever Part# GX22026 and push nut #10434 are required. The push nut can be found at a big box or hardware store. One customer mentioned that the product was a perfect fit for their application but they had to replace the same cable six times in 18 years due to it breaking.
