This magnet is easy to use and does not need any special libraries. The general Consensus on this product is that it can hold around 0.25 to 0.5 pounds. When using this magnet, it works better when its Vcc pin is connected to a separate power source like a 6V dry cell battery. The magnet draws .3 amps but the Arduino pin max is 20 ma, to avoid the Arduino burning out, a mosfet pwm switch is used. This solid state switch carries (switches) 300ma.current to the electromagnetic coil. These switch circuits are often called drivers, where the pilot is the 20ma. signal from the microcontroller board. It is unclear how long the signal can be kept on "high" (magnetized) without overheating. The best way to test its durability is yet to be determined.
